Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Southern Women’s Show Blogger Preview Event with NC Blogger Network and Bolt PR. Never having been to the Southern Women’s Show in Raleigh it was an awesome way to learn more about the event and connect with many of the local vendors that will be there this weekend.
What is the Southern Women’s Show
The Southern Women’s Show Raleigh runs April 13-15th and focused on beauty, health, crafting and local shopping fun. I used to think this show was just for older women, but I was completely wrong. The show truly has something for everyone. There are hundreds of vendors carrying everything from Dior makeup at Belk to fresh jams and canned goods from local farms.
There is even at Etsy area where local crafters will be sharing their goods. The show is so large, it takes up two buildings at the Raleigh Fairgrounds. Last night we toured both spaces, but only had a chance to connect with a few vendors so I definitely have to go back this weekend.
Shopping Local & Giving Back
I absolutely love shopping local and the Southern Women’s Show is a great way to connect with local businesses you may not be familiar with. I am particularly excited about taking a BYOB craft class at The Devilish Egg, which I learned about last night and purchasing some clothing from the interact thrift shop benefiting local rape and domestic abuse survivors.
It was so wonderful to learn about the ways local businesses are giving back to our community via donations, meals, clothing and services. I am looking forward to learning more this weekend.
Kendra Scott
The Raleigh Kendra Scott store will also be at the show. We met with them last night and had a chance to preview the Summer ’18 Collection, which will be launching this week. We also got some samples of their new nail polish line, which I am excited to try. Kendra Scott Events Coordinator for the Raleigh office, Sarah, is such an amazing woman and they do so much to give back to our community. They have worked with My Cancer Chic to pampering our local breasties at so many of our events over the past year and will be one of our partners for the Survivor photoshoot this Sunday.
Let’s Talk Activities
In addition to the shopping opportunities, the Southern Women’s Show has a variety of cooking demos, fashion shows and celebrity guests performances included Veryn Yip from TLC’s Trading Spaces.
Want to get a makeover or some pampering? Head to the Belk Beauty Pavilion. For taste testing and cooking demos, head to the Food Lion stage or make your way around to the variety of food booths with samples. There is so much to choose from, I highly suggest you take a look at the full schedule and plan out your trip.
Blogger Preview Event
I was so nervous to attend this blogger event. It’s easy to doubt your value and default to your insecurities in new situations but I decided to attend in spite of my apprehension. I am so glad that I pushed through the insecurities, because I ended up meeting so many amazing local bloggers. I was pleasantly surprised that as we went around the table introducing ourselves, the themes of self-love, inspiration and community showed up in each blogger’s introduction.
Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
It’s easy to assume our differences and not take advantage of new opportunities due to fear or insecurity. But I keep finding again and again that when I step outside my comfort zone I am met with new understanding of myself and valuable new connections and opportunities. Thank you to NC Blogger Network and Bolt PR for bringing us all together. It was so empowering to be surrounded by other talented, strong women who all contribute quality creative content and build this wonderful local community. I look forward to more local collaborations and finding new ways to give back to my community.

I was given the opportunity to attend the Blogger preview event for free and was given free tickets to the Southern Women’s Show. All photos, opinions and thoughts are my own.
