Aside from group exercise classes like pilates or Zumba, I have always loved to workout from home. For those who are newer to at-home exercise, I thought I would share my favorite at-home exercise resources that I have used over the years. Many of the resources are free and a few I have paid for and can vouch for their effectiveness. Let's jump into my favorite exercise resources.
This is one of my favorite workout groups ever. The founder Karina and Katrina are so inspiring and they focus on body positivity in every single workout. If you want to try out their content for free, check out their YouTube and if you love it like I do you can buy their app $12.95 per month for on-demand workouts, fitness modules, recipes and more. The thing I love most about the app is the ability to sort by time and activity type. For example, today I had 10 minute before I had to pick Mason up but was able to find a high-intensity HIIT workout that kicked my butt. Check it out, they have something for everyone with dance, barre, kickboxing, meditation, yoga and more.
Popsugar fitness is an oldie but a goodie in my book. Their Youtube channel is filled with workouts of all kinds and they are all FREE. Whenever I am feeling bored I head to their channel for something new. I particularly enjoy their dance workout classes for a fun sweat session.
Yoga with Adrienne may be my favorite yoga resource out there and there are a ton. She has designed sessions to fit every lifestyle, every body issue and she focuses heavily on mental health as well. I love her 30 day challenge if you're looking for something to keep you accountable.
I have a love-hate relationship with the SWEAT app by Kayla Intenes also known as BBG. The workouts are very focused on cardio and weights and are very prescriptive. Do they work? Absolutely. I did the program for 7 weeks to prepare for walking in the AnaOno NYFW show and my body was toned and strong but I hated every minute of the workouts. That just wasn't sustainable for me long-term but for those who love a simple system to hold you accountable for daily workouts, it is a great resource. The app is $19.99/month or you can buy a PDF version of the plan.
I discovered FitnessBlender on YouTube almost 6 years ago and it was through this fitness couple that I learned about HIIT: high intensity interval training. I love HIIT because the sections are short but you are working intensely during those bursts. I am someone who gets bored easily and that approach keeps me engaged. Check out their free workouts.
Last but not least is Blogilates. I started following Casey and doing her workouts in the summer of 2015 right before my cancer diagnosis. She is such a positive and energizing person to follow and her workouts combine a mix of strength training and pilates ab work. In addition to her free youtube channel, she offers nutrition plans, workout programs, printables, and tons of other inspirational resources on her website. Her line Popflex also has the cutest motivational workout items and activewear. I just ordered this 90 Day Journey to help me track my macros and my wellness goals. Check out this post my Beginner Guide to Counting Macros
I hope you find these resources helpful as you form your own at-home fitness routines. Let me know if you try any of the resources or have others you would like to share.
