A cancer diagnosis can be terrifying. While friends and family provide loving support there is nothing like the comfort of finding other women who understand what you’re going through. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 27 all I longed for was finding a community of young women who I could talk to, relate to and help me navigate the cancer experience. I am SO excited to share that what I have always dreamed of is now a reality and I got to be a part of the process working as a patient advocate with Healthline. Breast Cancer Healthline is a new free app for people that have or are currently facing a breast cancer diagnosis. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play. Download here today and start building your tribe.
Working with a Company that Truly Cares about the Breast Cancer Community
I was so excited to partner with Healthline on the launch of their new app and I have the utmost respect for their design and implementation team. They are passionate about ensuring that the Breast Cancer Healthline App actually meets the needs of the breast cancer community. They are continuously incorporating feedback from survivors and patient advocates like me. The goal is to ensure it is a safe, educational and supportive space for those living with breast cancer to connect and engage. Over the next month I will be partnering with Healthline to share more about the app, building your community, and my own personal breast cancer journey.
Can I also just share how honored I am that the Healthline graphics team created a custom avatar of me?!!!!! It looks so much like me down to the blonde topknot, the blush leggings and the color scheme. What an amazing group to work with and find new ways to help cancer thrivers.
Features of the Breast Cancer Healthline App
The Breast Cancer Healthline (BCH) app allows you to set up a simple and personalized profile to reflect your interests, background and medical diagnosis. The app then matches you with others based on treatment, stage of cancer and personal interests. My favorite part in the profile is the section sharing what ‘feeds your soul’. That helped make me feel more like a real person and less like just another patient. Within the app you have the ability to share experiences and ask questions. Most importantly, you have a safe space to express your thoughts and feelings with others who truly understand firsthand. There are also groups for community discussion on topics like ‘Treatment & Side-Effects’, ‘Living With Stage IV’ and ‘Lifestyle’ (including nutrition, fitness and integrative therapies). I have also found comfort in sharing about my ectopic pregnancy in the ‘Relationships’ group discussion.

It has been a powerful experience for me to play a role in this project with Healthline. As a 3 year cancer thriver I am passionate about giving back to the cancer community. I want to ensure no woman has to go through the isolation and sadness I faced when diagnosed. No one should feel alone when facing a cancer diagnosis. Healthline Breast Cancer App is revolutionizing the cancer experience to connect women with others around the world so that they can find the support they need and create authentic relationships and bonds with others who just “get it”.
